Four primary energies

Peng, moving energy ; Lu, collecting energy

Chi, combining energy ; An, sinking energy

 

Peng is upward and outward – usually it is moving energy

Lu is peng drawn down and inwards – its greater part is collecting

Chi is the energy of the two arms combined through one point – it is usually receiving

An is peng drawn down – it is usually striking energy

 

 

Four secondary energies

Ts’ai, pulling energy ; Lieh, striking energy

Chou, elbow energy ; Kao, shoulder energy

 

The secondary energies are used.........

When you defend the opponent’s movement and it is adhering

When the primary movements are forced outside the circle

 

 Pull – stopping the opponent’s movement and manifesting his energy

 Strike – striking the opponents body whilst attracting his movement

 Elbow – recovers the hand being forced outside the circle

 Shoulder – recovers the elbow being forced outside the circle
